Academy Tour Day 6

After last night’s victory over the North Sydney Bears the lads had a well deserved lie in this morning followed by a breakfast treat of BBQ’d sausages, bacon and egg barms!

This morning’s recovery training session consisted of the usual gym, breathing and mobility exercises followed by a dip in the Cables water park pond. It was a good job for Jamie Pye that Lewis Dodd was on hand to rescue him from what he thought was a vicious eel attack. You can say that Jamie was relieved when he realised that the eel was actually a piece of grass!!

The boys then jumped on the bus for a trip into the city, firstly to visit the markets and then on to the ‘rocks’. The market was the first real opportunity for the lads to buy gifts and NRL memorabilia.

The Training gear didn’t seem to be as popular as in previous years with some of the boys preferring to buy alternative items. Joe Woods for example decided to buy a reversible dressing gown and Keenan McDaid a diamanté encrusted karaoke microphone……

The visit to the rocks allowed the lads to have a few hours down time to wander around the city, some to meet up with family and others to sneak in some chips and ice cream when the coaches weren’t watching – (Taylor Pemberton and Cole Appleby, who both tried to convince Ste Marsh that they took the healthy option of salad instead!).

The second training session of the day followed as the boys did a light hearted transition run and some decision making drills as attention now turns to Wednesday’s game against the Sydney Roosters.

Back to base for another BBQ for tea before an early night as the busy days start to catch up with everyone….
