Saints 2020 fixtures revealed!

We had some memorable encounters with Salford last season as James Bentley went over for a last minute try before Lachlan Coote converted to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat at the Totally Wicked Stadium before the Red Vee left Old Trafford victorious following a win over the Red Devils in the Super League Grand Final.

Can we kick off the season, under new coach Kristian Woolf in similar fashion?

In other opening weekend fixtures, Toronto Wolfpack make their eagerly-anticipated Betfred Super League debut against Castleford Tigers in the first ever Super League double header on February 2 at Emerald Headingley ahead of Leeds Rhinos’ season opener against Hull FC.

In Round 2, Saints travel to rivals Warrington Wolves on Thursday 6 February, again live on Sky before we visit Hull FC for a Sunday sizzler.

Other key dates for the diary include a round 5 match-up with newcomers Toronto Wolfpack at a UK location which will be confirmed in due course, a Good Friday battle with Wigan at the Totally Wicked Stadium (April 10) which is directly followed by a clash in Perpignan to face Catalans on Apr 18 before a first trip to Canada to face Toronto Wolfpack follows two weeks later on 2 May.

A significant change in 2020 will see teams play just once across the Easter Weekend, with player welfare at the heart of the decision.

The Dacia Magic Weekend will be played in Round 15 as Saints again play Salford Red Devils at Newcastle’s St.James’ Park.

The Saints have three tricky fixtures in June as we face Leeds and Castleford at the Totally Wicked Stadium before we again travel down the road to Warrington in round 19.

Wigan then come to the Totally Wicked again on Friday 31 July before we travel to Salford the week after and Warrington then come to the home of the Saints in round 25.

Kristian Woolf’s men travel to Wigan on the penultimate game of the regular season before Toronto visit the Totally Wicked in round 29 as all final round fixtures are played on the same evening.

The Saints will play 29 regular season fixtures in total – 14 at home and 14 away, plus the Magic round with the fixture pattern again being determined by the teams’ finishing positions in 2019.

Old Trafford will stage the Super League Grand Final on Saturday October 10 with the play off system matching that of last year.
