LISTEN: McManus reacts to Government backing

Hear what Chairman Eamonn McManus had to say as he spoke to BBC Radio Merseyside following the news this morning that the Rugby Football League (RFL) will receive a £16 million loan from the Government to safeguard the immediate future of the sport.

The emergency loan will help the sport deal with the extreme financial impact of the coronavirus outbreak while the season remains suspended, due to social distancing measures.

And Club Chairman of McManus, spoke to BBC Radio Merseyside’s Ian Kennedy about the backing and how it will help the Club and the game in the short term, before emphasising that this is just the first step of the survival of the sport.

‪Everyone at the Club and the St Helens community would like to thank Marie Rimmer CBE MP and Conor McGinn MP for supporting The RFL in its bid to secure the government loan alongside the All-Party Parliamentary Rugby League Group.
