Match Preview: Grand Final

Saints face rivals Wigan Warriors in the Betfred Super League Grand Final. Kick off tonight is at 8pm at Hull's KCOM Stadium and you can read all the pre-match news right here in our match preview.

BACKGROUND…

It’s one of the most eagerly anticipated derby matches in rugby league – Wigan Warriors v St Helens. A match steeped in history and rivalry – two towns with no love lost between them – one match to become Super League 2020 champions.

Saints will be spurred on by our emphatic victory against Catalan Dragons which saw us sail into the Grand Final.

The Warriors are unbeaten in their last five matches and were equally impressive in their knockout tie against Hull FC last Thursday.

We will extend our own record of most Grand Final appearances to 12 on Friday night. Whoever loses the game will set a new, unwanted record for most defeats in a Grand Final.

Both the Saints (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011) and Warriors (2000, 2001, 2003, 2014 and 2015) have previously lost on five occasions in the Super League showpiece.
