Three Saints nominated for Woman of Steel

Saints Women have had three players nominated for the 2023 Woman of Steel award, with the winner being crowned on Tuesday 10th October!

Skipper Cunningham missed the first part of the 2023 season due to injury, but has been immense since her return from knee surgery. The 2021 Woman of Steel is up for the award again, having been nominated in both 2021 and 2022.

Cunningham won the Player of the Match award, for her performance in Saints’ historic 8-22 Challenge Cup Final victory over Leeds Rhinos at Wembley last month.

Emily Rudge is also a nominee for the award. Rudge has once again performed at a consistently high level in 2023, and has eight tries in all competitions so far this season.

Rudge, one of our two Vice Captains, has never won the Woman of Steel award before despite being nominated several times. After another great season under her belt, Rudge will be looking to grab the award this year, having been nominated in both 2019 and 2021, with her third nomination now coming in 2023.

Shona has been on fire for the Red V so far in 2023, scoring a club leading 16 tries in all competitions. She has featured at Prop, Second Row and Loose Forward for Saints this season.

Hoyle joined the Saints from Huddersfield Giants in May 2022, and scored a try in Saints’ Challenge Cup Final success against Leeds Rhinos last month. Its her first time being nominated for the award.

The club would like to congratulate all of our nominated players!
