At this week's Betfred Super League Fixture against Hull KR, the club will be reinforcing the message about Positive Touchline Behaviour!
Saturday’s home fixture will see the first team players warm up in our specially designed “Positive Touchline Behaviour” warm-up tops. This will be the start of Saints supporting our fantastic Community Rugby League clubs to celebrate the important work they do taking responsibility for the care and welfare of our young players, match officials, volunteers, and spectators, both Male and Female.

Over the coming months we will be working closely with our Community Clubs and Match Official Society to ensure we continue to consistently deliver quality experiences to all who visit our community club venues, furthermore, treating all visitors with respect.
As well as a focus on player centred environments we want the same attention on match officials, coaches and volunteers with a zero tolerance when we come across poor practice or abuse.
James Roby talks about encouraging positivity when supporting a team in the community game, especially match officials because:

Craig Richards our Coaching systems manager said:
“Whilst we aspire to ensure parents and guardians are satisfied that the quality of coaching is of the highest calibre, we also want to remind them on the role they play in their child’s developmental journey” adding “lets also remember we all started playing Rugby League to have fun and that is surely the most important thing.”

Andrew Mulligan Secretary/ Development Officer of St Helens RLRS commented:
“Our sport produces both winners and losers, and it is always better when there is an independent guardian of fairness to give everyone an equal chance of success. Let’s appreciate that Referees do everything they can to make every game better for all, whilst always striving to improve their own performances.
Whether players, coaches or referees, we are all participants of the game of Rugby League, just in a different role – but ultimately, we are involved for the enjoyment and the love of the game, and to have FUN.
You wouldn’t lambast a player for making a mistake, the same forgiveness and positive touchline attitude should extend to match officials, we are all only human.
Let’s applaud both our players and referees as they develop their skills to grow our game together.”
