St.Helens will start the 2025 Betfred Super League season at our home, the Totally Wicked Stadium against Salford Red Devils!
Our home opener takes place on Saturday, 15th February 2025 with kick-off scheduled for 5:30pm.
It’s the first time the Saints and Salford have faced one another in the opening round of the Betfred Super League season since 2021, a behind-closed-doors fixture played at Headingley in Leeds due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which the Saints on that day ran out winners of 29-6. The Red V and Salford also met in the season opener the year before in 2020 for a repeat of the 2019 Grand Final, and Saints won that match by 48-8.
Salford enjoyed a strong season in 2024, finishing fourth in the regular campaign in another defying the odds campaign. Paul Rowley’s style of play has embedded itself well with the Red Devils earning a number of impressive wins in the year, arguably two of their most notable came against St.Helens both away and at home.
The last meeting between Saints and Salford was an enthralling affair, with the final ten minutes proving to be chaotic with three sin bins, a level-scoring try and some remarkable last ditch defence resulting in the game going to Golden Point. Moses Mbye on the night was the hero, slotting over the Extra Time one-pointer to confirm a victory for St.Helens.
There will be added motivation for the Red V too, not only to get 2025 started in strong fashion, but to keep an impressive run of form in the first round of Super League action going, with Saints securing the win in the first match of Super League action each year since 2014.
Tonight it has also been revealed that our first league away fixture of 2025 will be a trip to The Mend-A-Hose Jungle to take on Castleford Tigers on Saturday, 22nd February with kick-off at 8pm.
Super League has also announced the fixtures for Rivals Round, with the Saints headed over to our local rivals Wigan Warriors for the traditional Good Friday clash on Friday, 18th April at 3pm, for The Biggest Derby In Rugby League.
St.Helens’ full Super League fixture list will be released at 8am tomorrow morning – Thursday, 21st November.
