Women’s 2025 Squad Numbers Announced

St.Helens Women confirm which numbers our squad will wear for the 2025 Women’s Rugby League season!

Head Coaches Derek Hardman & Craig Richards have begun Pre-Season in recent weeks, and they have selected a 28-woman squad for the year ahead, with four additions to the Saints side, and a further three of our Academy team taking the step up.

Today’s news confirms that 2024 Woman of Steel nominee and St.Helens Women’s Player of the Year Faye Gaskin will continue playing in the Red V in 2025. Gaskin had previously declared that 2024 was to be her final season as a player, however our number #7 has decided to play on with the team again.

Amy Hardcastle has returned to the Club where she enjoyed the most successful period of her Women’s Super League career and will once again wear the Saints’ number #4 jersey.

Shona Hoyle is also back at the Totally Wicked Stadium following a season with Leeds, and she has been assigned the number #11 shirt following Paige Travis’ departure.

New signing Caitlin Casey has been issued her first Saints squad number (#17), as has Georgina Holmes (#28) who joined the Red V after being spotted playing rugby union.

Some of our Saints Women have new squad numbers for the upcoming campaign. Phoebe Hook after impressing on the wing in her first two seasons has been rewarded with the number #2 shirt. It’s a similar story for hooker Katie Mottershead, St.Helens Women’s Young Player of the Year for 2024, who deservedly takes the number #9 following Tara Jones’ retirement.

Erin Stott following her strongest season in the Red V so far goes from number #4 to number #3, whilst forwards Georgia Sutherland (#15) and Erin McDonald (#20) also move up in number assignment.

Our three Academy graduates are Under 19s Player of the Year Caitlin Maylor (#19), Emma Lowe (#26), and Hollie Brussels (#27), and all three will be hungry to make their official debuts.

We can also confirm that Pip Birchall, Hannah Roberts, and Grace Arrowsmith have departed Saints Women, and we say our heartfelt thanks to Pip, Hannah, and Grace for their efforts in the Red V.

The Club would like to especially wish Pip the best of luck as she prepares to go travelling. As one of our earliest members of the St.Helens Women’s team, Birchall played a big part in our silverware successes, including; the historic treble in 2021, and our four-in-a-row Women’s Challenge Cup victories.
