Our First Team's final training session in 2024 was a relentless day at Formby Beach, battling the pouring rain cold temperatures and very strong wind.
Led off by the Saints’ coaching staff, the players were put through the ringer with hours of tough, physically demanding challenges and exercises on the beach front, and going up, down and across the tall and difficult sand dunes too.
Plenty of lung busting conditioning and cardio saw the players support one another through the gruelling tests, and then supporting each other in lots of various ways. The end goal was to come through this tough task together as a unit and a team.
Every single First Team player, along with every member of our coaching team then went arm in arm to approach the edge of bitterly freezing and turbulent Irish Sea. The team then held on to one another to contest the waves and even submerge themselves under the water.
In a final twist, once the players got back out of the sea and into clothing once more, they were told to finish they had a two-mile run to the coach that would take them home,
