Joint Head Coaches Craig Richards and Derek Hardman have confirmed their 21-woman Saints squad for this Sunday's Betfred Women's Challenge Cup Semi Final.
The St.Helens Women are looking to make it to Wembley Stadium for a third successive year, and continue the drive for five Challenge Cup trophies in a row.
Impressively, not a single point has yet to be scored against the Red V Women in the 2025 Women’s Rugby League season, however the task now goes rises up against the current Betfred Women’s Super League champions – York Valkyrie.
The Saints will meet the Valkyrie at the final four stage of this competition for a third straight year. In 2023, Faye Gaskin’s drop goal was the difference in a thrilling game played in Warrington, 17-16. Last year’s Semi Final saw St.Helens put on a strong performance to beat York 32-2 in Doncaster.
The Valkyrie will be highly charged up to earn their first Challenge Cup trophy and in doing so stop the Saints’ trophy winning run which began in the 2021 Final against York, and get some revenge after being knocked out by the Red V in the last two seasons.
The Saints though have plenty of big motivation of their own, not only to continue this historic trophy run, but the get some revenge of our own after the heartbreaking 8-18 loss to York in the 2024 Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final, stopping a treble winning season.
It has all the making of a gripping game, and a showcase of two of the very best teams in Women’s Rugby League right now.
