Saints Academy to ‘Cycle To Perpignan’ for Tour fundraiser

As part of our fundraising efforts for the ASW Solicitors 2026 Australia St.Helens Academy Tour, a team made up of our Scholarship and Academy Saints will be cycling the total distance from the Totally Wicked Stadium to the Stade Gilbert Brutus!

This challenge will take place ahead of St.Helens’ Betfred Super League home clash with Catalans Dragons on Thursday, 15th May 2025. With a curtain raiser too with our Under 18s also taking on Hull FC on the same night.

Inspired by the Saints Community Development Foundation’s (SCDF’s) ‘Cycle To Perpignan’ back in March, our youngsters with more bikes and more cyclists on match night will take on a team cycling challenge of just over 785 miles or 1,260 kilometres – the distance between the Saints home ground and the Dragons’ point-to-point.

What our team of paired up volunteers achieved in just over two days, our group of young aspiring players are aiming to finish in just three hours! It will be a tough, physical challenge, with teamwork essential.

So, why are our young Saints doing the ‘Cycle To Perpignan’?

The challenge is to help the fundraising efforts of the ASW Solicitors 2026 Australia St.Helens Academy Tour!

Over the last two decade, eight Saints Tours have been arranged with the ambition always remaining the same: help develop more young players to become future stars of St.Helens R.F.C.

Past tourists prove why it is so important, players such as; Jonny Lomax, Mark Percival, Morgan Knowles, Matty Lees, and Jack Welsby, naming just some of the young men who went down under as an Academy Saint.

If you can donate to the Tour, you are helping shape our First Team squads of the future, and helping a special group of young men go and have the experience of a lifetime and represent our club on the other side of the planet.

How can I donate to this challenge?

Saints fans on match night will be able to go and cheer on our cycle team across two groups, with cash donations accepted and guaranteed to encourage the players to keep going and pedal even faster.

You will find our cycle groups working hard outside the Totally Wicked Stadium on match night:

  • Outside the RedV Bar by the South Stand
  • Next to the Tesco Extra on approach to the stadium and the West Stand

Fancy seeing Oasis?! You could and help our Tour efforts too!
