The Steven Mullaney Memorial Match, sponsored by inspiresport, will be played as the curtain-raiser on Betfred Challenge Cup Finals Day this Saturday. It remains a heartfelt tradition of our sport with this being the 50th anniversary of this fixture, with Rainford taking on Sirius Academy West, a school based in Hull.
The Club were delighted to welcome down on Wednesday night; members of school staff alongside the members of the squad and their families for an inspiring night ahead of the youngsters big day at the national stadium.
Former Rainford students Jonny Lomax and Lee Briers were the guest speakers on the shirt presentation night, with both sharing stories of their visits to Wembley, and offering some advise for the boys before heading down to London.
Saints TV gives you just a brief look at what was a special evening.
As part of the Saints Women’s departure to Wembley, the Club also invited the Rainford team to be part of our wave off on Friday morning. The school side will form a guard of honour for our Women’s side, prior to the boarding onto the team bus for Wembley.
