St.Helens Head Coach Paul Wellens has named his 21-man squad for this Friday's home fixture against Leeds Rhinos.
St.Helens First Team 21-man squad announcement is sponsored by St Helens Flooring.
The Saints are back at home at the Totally Wicked Stadium for the first time in over a month and will play host to the Rhinos for Round 15 of Betfred Super League 2025.
Our Red V come into the fixture on the back of an away victory over Salford Red Devils on Sunday afternoon, and back on home turf Wellens’ men will be out to make it back-to-back wins, and beat a fellow side that is in the top six of the league table. There is further motivation to get one back over the Rhinos, who won the Magic Weekend fixture between the two sides at the start of May which ended a six-matching winning run that the Saints had over Leeds.
Leeds are in fine form and will pose a tough test and are currently on a five-match winning run themselves which began with their win over St.Helens in Newcastle last month.
Saints and Leeds have met twice already this season, with the head-to-head score tied at one apiece, with the Red V victorious over the Rhinos in the Betfred Challenge Cup at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
Paul Wellens will be speaking to the press to give the latest on his Saints squad later on today, with his weekly press conference scheduled for this afternoon. Saints TV subscribers will be able to watch in full.
SQUAD NEWS
Coach Wellens makes two changes to the squad he announced for the win over Salford on Sunday, with Joe Batchelor and George Whitby unavailable following issues picked up in the fixture at the Salford Community Stadium. Batchelor sadly suffered a calf injury, and Whitby failed a Head Injury Assessment so must now follow the correct protocols.
The two Saints who step into the 21-man squad are Will Roberts and Jake Davies, should either be selected and play on Friday night they would make their official St.Helens and Super League debuts.
Both Roberts and Davies played last weekend for Saints’ Dual Registration partners Swinton Lions in their win over Workington, with Will at halfback and Jake in the back-row.
