St.Helens R.F.C. is delighted to confirm that young homegrown forward Cole Marsh has agreed to a one-year contract extension for the 2026 season!
Cole Marsh is proudly sponsored at the Saints by RWL Holdings Ltd.
The former Blackbrook junior is a proud product of the Saints Academy, having come through our youth ranks from the Scholarship Under-16s and into the Under-18s Academy, where he was part of the team that secured the top spot in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, and an Academy title in 2023 with a Grand Final victory.
From late 2024 ahead of the 2025 season, Marsh joined the Red V First Team environment, and now it has been confirmed he will continue his progression in the 2026 season, where he will be a key man in St.Helens’ Reserves team as well.
The 20-year-old forward is comfortable playing at both hooker and loose-forward and has been training well throughout the 2026 pre-season under new Head Coach Paul Rowley.
Speaking about the news confirming he will be staying at his beloved hometown club, Cole Marsh said: “It feels really good, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given here.
“It’s always special staying here as a local lad. My family have supported me for a long time, so it means a lot to all of us.”
Last season saw Marsh make the move into a full-time sporting environment, and he believes the last twelve months have been a period of growth for him as both a player and a young man.
“It was a big year for me. Physically, I feel like I improved a lot, and I got to learn so much just by being around the squad and learning from experienced lads. Players like Morgan Knowles and Matty Lees, especially through the middle.
“This year I’ve also been picking things up from Wingy [Jake Wingfield] and Shoz [Joe Shorrocks], and I’m just trying to learn as much as I can.”
Looking to be a leader within our Reserves programme this year, Cole is eager to take on responsibility and continue pushing his standards.
“I want to be a leader in the Reserves, lead from the front and do the best I can for the team.”
