Head Coach Paul Rowley has confirmed his 21-man St.Helens squad ahead of Saturday's match Betfred Challenge Cup Fourth Round match against Castleford Tigers.
The Red V are heading over to West Yorkshire to fight for a spot in the Quarter Finals, with kick-off scheduled for 6pm at The OneBore Stadium in Castleford.
Saturday’s game is the first Cup meeting between the Saints and Tigers since the 2021 Wembley Final, when St.Helens emerged victorious with a 12-26 win, clinching our first Challenge Cup trophy in 13 years.
Paul Rowley’s men secured their place at this stage of the Cup with a professional performance against Workington Town, running out 2-98 victors up in West Cumbria. The Saints have won their last three league matches, including a hard-fought victory over Bradford last Saturday.
Ryan Carr’s Tigers team reached this stage of the knockout competition after defeating Doncaster in early February. Their league form has been mixed, with only one win in their last four matches, coming against Huddersfield two weeks ago.
Throughout the year, St Helens R.F.C. will be celebrating our 1996 team, that historic year which saw the Saints achieve an historic Double by winning both the inaugural Super League and the Challenge Cup. Thirty years later, fittingly, the Saints and Castleford will meet again in the Fourth Round, mirroring the 1996 Cup competition.

SQUAD NEWS
Paul Rowley makes four changes to the squad that was victorious over Bradford last Saturday evening.
Jacob Host suffered a broken leg in the match against the Bulls, which looks to keep him sidelined for around four months. He had surgery earlier this week and has begun his road to recovery, and all at the Club would like to wish him a full and speedy recovery.
George Delaney failed a Head Injury Assessment last Saturday, so he is unavailable for this upcoming fixture and is following return-to-play protocols. Nene Macdonald also came off the field during the first half of last week’s match and has undergone scans this week, and so the centre has been stood down for this match on Saturday.
Joe Shorrocks begins his two-match penalty notice, so he will miss this game and next week’s trip to Toulouse.
Props Agnatius Paasi and Alfie Sinclair, alongside hooker Jake Burns, come into the 21-man squad selection, as does Saints Academy talent Chris Matagi, who has been impressing in both our Under 18 and Reserves fixtures. If selected to play and make his debut, Matagi would then be allocated an official squad number. It marks the first time that the young forward has been named in St.Helens’ senior 21-man squad.
