In partnership with O’Neills Sportswear, we are very proud to introduce the 2026 Third Shirt to be worn by the players during a number of matchdays this season, including this evening vs Hull KR and vs Wigan Warriors at the Magic Weekend.
The shirt pays further homage to the momentous 1996 campaign, which has already been marked with the launch of our Home shirt back in November.
It’s been 30 years since the Club secured the inaugural Super League title and a truly memorable Challenge Cup triumph at Wembley.
The away shirt worn during that season is another cult favourite amongst Saints fans, having been given the ‘Tesco bag’ moniker during its initial release for the 1995/96 centenary season.
In celebrating the triumphs of the 1996 team, we have launched an updated version of the shirt using modern fabrics but retaining the iconic design features from the 90s era.
The shirt will be worn vs. Hull KR, SL Round 6, Friday 27th March, vs. York Knights, SL Round 10, Friday 1st May and Magic Weekend vs. Wigan Warriors, Sunday 5th July.
Design
The shirt features the classic royal blue and white vertical striped pattern as seen on the 1996 version.
The Club badge, proudly displayed on left chest is the same version seen on this season’s home shirt – the St.Helens Town crest inside a shield shape, amended to include the Town’s motto – Ex Terra Lucem.
The right sleeve also features a special anniversary patch marking 30 years since the 1996 season inspired by the ‘RFL13’ branding seen on the original version.
The O’Neill’s Logo sits on the right chest.
The shirt collar, as with the home shirt has an open ‘grandad style’ with a single button closure allowing the wearer a choice of looks. The cuffs are once again elasticated giving greater wearer comfort.
There is a metallic look official O’Neill’s Authentic Logo on the lower left hem of the shirt.
The shirt also features red name and number printing in-line with the original design.

Launch
The launch was teased with a short trailer using a Tesco bag from 1996 and posted exclusively on the Club’s Tick Tok channel before it was shared more widely.
The imagery and footage taken for the shirt was shot in the Town, close to the BrewDog Stadium, on a retro double-decker bus used in the era of the late 1980s and early 1990’s, kindly provided by the Northwest Museum of Road Transport based in Hall Street, St.Helens Town Centre.

The 2026 Third Shirt is available to purchase in-store and online now at: saintssuperstore.com – including free Click & Collect on all orders.
Please wait for your confirmation email advising that your order is ready for collection before attending the Superstore to collect. Please also provide proof of your order when collecting.
The Superstore at the BrewDog Stadium is open 9am-5pm, Mon-Fri, 10am-4pm Sat, with specific opening times on matchdays.
Prices
- Adult Replica shirts are available in sizes X-small through to 7XL and are priced at £54.
- Ladies’ shirts are available in sizes 8 through to 20 and are priced at £54.
- Junior shirts are available from age 5/6 years through to 13/14 years and are priced at £40.
- Toddler kits, for ages 1 to 2 and 3 to 4 are on sale for £43 and include shorts and socks.
