Young Saints halfback George Whitby scored twice in our victory over Catalans Dragons in the Betfred Challenge Cup Quarter Final, and he gave his reaction to Saints TV after the game.
Back after a spell out of the team due to a head knock, Whitby marked his return with two tries in a professional performance by the Saints. The half discussed how the players had to withstand an early arm wrestle, but gradually took control of the game.
The second half was more about tightening up their performance and pulling clear, and Whitby’s contributions proved to be important. Of his two tries, his second effort showed his determination to get to a ball that to most looked to be running out of play.
Despite further injuries during the game, the Saints once again demonstrated the resilience that has defined these early stages of the season. Whitby pointed to the squad’s preparation and the trust within the group as key factors.
Focus now shifts to the next game, a Thursday away trip to Hull FC, who will have had a week off following their Challenge Cup exit.
