St.Helens R.F.C. is thrilled to confirm that versatile forward Joe Shorrocks has agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Club!
Joe Shorrocks is proudly sponsored by MJS Data Management Ltd.
The 26-year-old first joined the Saints ahead of the 2026 season and has emerged as a key player for Paul Rowley’s team in the loose forward position. However, as a dynamic forward, Shorrocks is able to play in several positions when called upon.
So far, Joe has played ten times in the Red V, scoring one try in his early Saints career.
Before joining St.Helens, Shorrocks began his journey as a professional player with Wigan coming through their youth ranks. He made the move over to Salford to work under Rowley, who guided him to find his best playing form as a Red Devil, and he established himself as a key figure in the Salford team that defied the odds to reach the Play-Offs in 2024.
Last season, Shorrocks finished the year on loan with Leeds Rhinos, and during his time with Wigan, he also enjoyed loan spells with London Skolars and Leigh Leopards.
While with the Warriors, he won the League Leaders’ Shield twice, and in 2021, he earned the Betfred Super League’s Top Tackler Award.
Speaking to saintsrlfc.com about the news, a delighted Joe Shorrocks said: “I’m buzzing! Ever since the deal was put to me, I’ve been really keen to get it over the line. Thankfully, I’ve done that now, so I’m really happy.”
Shorrocks has very much made himself at home, settling into life at St.Helens very quickly.
“I love it. From my first day, I’ve loved it here, and it feels like home. It did when I first came, and I’m just really happy to extend my stay.
“Knowing Rowls [Paul Rowley] and knowing a few of the lads really helped me settle in. But I think it’s my personality as well. I get on well with everyone here, so coming to work doesn’t feel like work. It’s a really good place to be for me.”
With his long-term future locked in with the Saints, ‘Shoz’ knows the expectations of being at our club.
“I definitely want to win silverware. I want to be challenging every year, make great relationships on and off the field, and I feel like I’ve already started doing that in a short space of time. But winning something is definitely up there for me, and to bring some silverware back to St Helens would be really special.”

Head Coach Paul Rowley commented on Shorrocks’ extension with the Club, and added: “I never made a secret of the fact that I knew what qualities Joe would bring to our team. He is a bit of a hybrid, with a strong work ethic and a good rugby brain as well.
“Joe has done exactly what I expected him to do, and this is a reward for him backing himself and proving to be a valuable member of our team.
“He’s a huge character, fun, but let that never be mistaken. What people don’t see is that Joe is the consummate professional when it comes to doing his own work and understanding his role in our team.”
