Saints secure Tristan Sailor on extended deal

St.Helens R.F.C. is very pleased to announce that one of Betfred Super League’s brightest stars, Tristan Sailor, has signed a new three-year contract extension with the Club!

Northern Alarms proudly sponsors Tristan Sailor.

A truly exciting and entertaining player, Sailor has made himself very much at home at St.Helens and has now committed his longer-term future to the Club until at least the end of the 2029 season.

The Australian first joined the Red V in November 2024 ahead of his first season in the UK. Since then, he has featured in every competitive match that St.Helens has played in, making 50 consecutive appearances, scoring 28 tries and kicking 19 goals for a tally of 150 points so far.

Whilst his preference is to play anywhere in the spine, Sailor is versatile and can play in multiple positions. As such, he has put the team first to play wherever has been needed for the Saints. His positive attitude and mentality have also seen him move into the senior leadership group of the team, where his influence and presence continue to grow.

Delighted to commit to our club for a further three years, Tristan Sailor told saintsrlfc.com: “It’s really exciting! I came here for an opportunity, and I’ve absolutely loved my time here. I’m glad to be staying on and continuing to play alongside some of the boys I’ve been with over the past two years.

“Coming over to such an historic club, you had always heard about St.Helens, I certainly did from Jammer [James Graham]. And I saw coming in last year, the boys who carry values like Jonny Lomax, who is one of the toughest players I’ve played with, and you understand what the Club is all about.”

Sailor is relishing the thought of continuing to work alongside Paul Rowley.

“It’s been really good, he’s changed the environment and created more opportunities for the boys to spend time together and become closer as a group. He’s big on players taking ownership and leading from within.”

His goals for his time in the Red V remain the same; he wants to bring silverware back to the BrewDog Stadium.

“The biggest thing for me is helping bring trophies back to this club. That’s what this club, the fanbase and the community expect because St.Helens has always been a successful club. We’ve gone through some adversity over the past couple of years with inconsistent performances and changes within the squad, but now it’s about adapting and evolving with the game and the players we have.

“It’s about embracing that change, improving together and getting back to where we believe this club and this Town belong.”

Tristan expressed his gratitude to the Saints fans for their backing of both him and the team and said: “A massive thank you for all the support. You’ve made me feel really welcome here from day one, and I love seeing our fans get behind the team every week.

“We’re going to do everything we can to make you proud, keep putting wins on the board, and ultimately bring trophies back to the club. Thank you for all your support, and I can’t wait to do it for the next three years.”

Head Coach Paul Rowley is delighted by this news and commented: “Tristan extending his stay with the Saints is great news for the Club. Since joining, he has been outstanding in his performances and is a really valuable team member.

“He’s a great lad, and I am very happy that we get the pleasure of continuing to work alongside him going forward.”
