Curtis Sironen was pleased to see St.Helens return to winning ways with a victory over Huddersfield Giants after a tough run of results.
The back rower, who picked up the Player of the Match medal, felt that the Saints showed glimpses of what they are capable of when they completed well and stuck to their game plan. Ultimately, after three consecutive defeats, he believed the team needed the result, and he was pleased to help the side get back on track.
Sironen was also happy to get more minutes under his belt as he continues to build fitness following a frustrating start to the season due to injuries. Having spent time on the sidelines earlier in the year, he said he’s enjoying being back on the field and contributing to the team again.
‘Siro’ praised his peers after late changes forced players to step into the fold, and he highlighted the contribution of youngster Jake Davies, who crossed for two tries. He believes Davies has a bright career ahead of him and is already showing the qualities needed to succeed at First Team level.
Looking ahead, Sironen is excited for next weekend’s trip to Bradford Bulls, as the match is set to be a special occasion for the Australian if selected as it would be his 100th appearance for St.Helens. Curtis spoke of his pride and desire to reach that milestone, describing it as a privilege to represent the Club.
