Saints Reserves opener on Friday to take place at Ruskin

Our Saints Reserves kick off their campaign on Friday against Bradford Bulls Reserves with the game now taking place at Ruskin Sports Village with kick off at 7:30pm.

The Club is eager for the Reserves to make a successful return this weekend and have taken steps to ensure the fixture goes ahead despite the recent adverse weather.

The clash was originally scheduled to take place at the Totally Wicked Stadium, but with the recent heavy rain, the Club has taken the decision to move the fixture to Ruskin Drive in order to protect the pitch. The intention moving forward is to play all future Reserves games at the Stadium.

Because this is the season opener and given it has moved venue, entry will be FREE for all.

Moving forward, Members will gain free entry at the Stadium with a small ticketed price for non-members.

The Reserves will be headed up by Head Coach Ian Talbot and he has a strong Reserves squad featuring Academy graduates: Shay Martyn, Reece Sumner, Rio Corkill, Cole Appleby, Daniel Moss and Ellis Keppel. Jake Burns is another to join the squad. He is a hooker from Halton Hornets who will look to impress.

The remaining Reserves will be made up from the first team squad who are not named in the 21 man squad ahead of the first team’s trip to Hull FC on Saturday.

We will have regular updates for you across our social media accounts on Friday!

The plan is for the two competitions to be played on alternate weeks through the season, making a likely maximum of 16 rounds in each, to manage the demands on players and clubs – with Play-Off series to determine the champions in each grade, creating high-pressure matches which will aid players’ development and stimulate supporter interest.

It is mandatory for all Licensed Academies and Super League clubs thus maintaining continuity within the performance pathway, meaning that it will involve Bradford Bulls, London Broncos and Newcastle Thunder as well as the Super League clubs.
