St.Helens Head Coach Paul Wellens has announced his 20-man squad that will take on Leigh Leopards on Thursday, 17th July at the Totally Wicked Stadium, with kick-off at 8pm.

Following two weeks on the road, the Red V return home to the Totally Wicked Stadium for a fiery Thursday night of Betfred Super League action to begin Round 19, and the first meeting of the campaign between the Saints and the Leopards.
Wellens’ men head into this fixture on the back of a phenomenal defensive effort, in boiling hot temperatures at AMT Headingley Stadium, to earn a 0-6 victory over an in-form Leeds Rhinos. That result extended St.Helens current winning run to five matches and initially moved the Saints up to third in the league table.
Adrian Lam’s Leigh side have had an impressive two weeks at the Leigh Sports Village, firstly, beating Wigan 18-8, followed by a 28-10 win over table toppers Hull KR on Saturday afternoon. That win over the Robins moved the Leopards above Saints in the table into third spot.
So, separated by just a single league point in the table, with the race for positions inside the top six Play-Offs continuing to heat up, this local rivalry is bound to be another explosive meeting between St.Helens and Leigh on Thursday night!

SQUAD NEWS
The Saints Head Coach has made a number of changes to the squad he named for the win over Leeds. Two of these are due to failed head injury assessments from the fixture, and one more due to injury.
Hookers Daryl Clark and Jake Burns both came off the field at Headingley for HIAs which they did not pass, therefore are unavailable for selection and are following return to play protocols. Noah Stephens, as was revealed by Wellens last Friday night, has had surgery for a fractured thumb which is expected to keep him out of action for around eight weeks.
Stepping into the 21 then are James Bell and Leon Cowen, both are loose forwards who can play in a number of positions in the pack too. It is a welcome sight to see Bell back in contention for selection following rehabilitation on a foot fracture injury that had required surgery back in April.
Cowen is named in a Super League 21-man squad announcement for the first time this season. The young forward has been on dual registration duty with Halifax Panthers in recent weeks, and has featured for the Saints Reserves in the season too. Should Leon be selected to play, he would make his official St.Helens and Super League debut, as would Jake Davies too if he featured in the match on Thursday night.
