St.Helens' 2025 End of Season Awards Dinner, proudly sponsored by Totally Wicked, saw Morgan Knowles as the big winner with four awards picked up on the night.
It was an occasion to remember for the Saints’ number thirteen as he received the Members, Players’ and Player of the Season Awards, and was celebrated for his services to the Club with the Chairman’s Award too.
Our First Team players and staff were joined in The PSD 1873 Lounge at the Totally Wicked Stadium by our brilliant Club Partners and Player Sponsors as we reflected on the 2025 season to date.
Ahead of the night itself, the Saints confirmed the first two winners of our annual presentation night, with Agnatius Paasi being awarded the Club Academic Achiever award, and Konrad Hurrell earning the Club Wellbeing Ambassador gong.
The event began with Head Coach Paul Wellens discussing the campaign up to now, and looking ahead to the Play-Offs and our ambition to drive towards another Super League title.
Looking to the next-gen, our Scholarship, Academy and Reserves Players of the Season were then confirmed, before the First Team awards were confirmed.
The night also offered the Club the chance to say thank you and good luck to the players who are moving on from the Club.
Here is your recap of the night, with our winning Saints listed below.
Under 16s Player of the Season
Our Scholarship side played their eight-match 2025 season, winning three matches in what Academy Head Coach Derek Traynor admitted was a tough season.
Issuing the award to the winner Tyler Mills, Traynor shared how impressive the youngster had been during the year, putting in plenty of effort and hard work in both training and matches.
The grandson of former Saint ‘Big’ Jim Mills, Tyler will now progress into our Under 18s team, and we wish him the very best with his next steps at the Club!
Under 18s Player of the Season
The Saints Academy had a challenging season in 2025, starting with a couple of losses but rallying together they then went on a five-match winning run to improve their place in the Academy Championship table.
Through the year they won eight matches, losing just four, and finishing third in the league table at the end of the regular season. That saw our youngsters play a Semi-Final away against second placed Leeds, and in a thrilling game they came just short of making it three successive Academy Grand Final appearances in a row, losing 20-12 to the Rhinos.
Throughout the whole campaign, Academy captain Thomas Humphreys has led from the front and driven high standards for our Under 18s. During the summer the hooker was deservedly picked to represent Lancashire in the Academy Origin Series.
Reserves Player of the Season
With a lot Academy talent stepping up to get Reserves match minutes, it has been a battling 2025 season.
Throughout the year, Jake Davies demonstrated his eagerness and effort to develop and progress himself as a young Saint, and deservedly he picked up the Reserves Player of the Season accolade.
Davies has also featured for Swinton Lions on dual registration, making his professional debut with the Betfred League One side, and representing the Club in terrific fashion.
Young Player of the Season
In his first full-time season as a First Team player, Harry Robertson has showcased why he is one of the most promising young talents in Rugby League.
The 19-year-old took on a new position for the 2025 season by playing at centre, and he has well and truly shone in that spot. Playing in 23 games so far in the season he has scored 14 tries, setting up a further seven.
Such impressive performances saw Harry earn his first senior England call-up for the Ashes Train-On squad, putting him in contention for the squad that will take on Australia this autumn.
Members Player of the Season
Chosen by our loyal 2025 Saints Members, Morgan Knowles was the chosen player for this highly sought-after award as it is chosen by our supporters who are there cheering on the team every single week, year after year.
We were delighted to welcome Saints Member Jackie Barker on stage to hand out this award.
Picking this one up meant a lot to Morgan, as he did not wish to leave the Club at the end of the year with anyone doubting he did not give his all for Saints ahead of his move to Australia at the end of the year.
Try of the Season
Ahead of the final regular season round of the 2025 Betfred Super League season, the Saints have scored 129 tries, and so many of them have been memorable. However, from a shortlist of four scores fans were asked to vote for the one that should be the best of the year.
The winning try was by Owen Dagnall, for his astonishing kick and chase against Castleford Tigers at home.
Cutting back in off the right wing by our own 40m line, Owen moved back into the middle of the field and by the Tigers’ 30m line he kicked ahead to the left corner, over the Tigers fullback.
Chasing his own kick as the ball ran closer to running out of the field of play, ‘Daggers’ leapt to dive on the ball in-goal for an incredible finish. Take a look back at that try below…
This Is Saints Award
Since being first introduced in 2022, the This Is Saints Award is given to a player for his efforts that may go unnoticed by most, but not by the coaching staff and players inside the First Team or Club environment. Not necessarily from matches, but from training and every day Saints duties.
Matty Lees was handed the Players’ Player of the Year Award. He continues to put the team first, and go above and beyond with his efforts both in preparation and matches.
Roby commended Lees’ work ethic and stated just how he is the perfect example to all on what it takes to be a St.Helens First Team player.
Players’ Player of the Season
An award that symbolizes just how respected you are by your peers, as it is chosen by those you play and train alongside every day. In 2025, Morgan Knowles was the First Team’s choice, by a landslide in the votes.
With his teammates signing his praises, ‘Morgs’ was incredibly touched to receive this award for the first time in his Saints career.
Player of the Season
After another incredible season full of effort and desire, with his Head Coach declaring him to be the best player in the competition, Morgan Knowles was the winner of St.Helens’ Player of the Year for 2025!
Chairman’s Award
Presented on behalf of Chairman Eamonn McManus by CEO Mike Rush, in recognition of eleven outstanding seasons of service to St.Helens R.F.C., Morgan Knowles received the Saints’ 2025 Chairman’s Award.
A huge part of our recent success, playing his part in four Super League titles, three League Leader’s Shields, the 2021 Challenge Cup, and the 2023 World Club Challenge.
Thank you for everything, Morgan.
