Next Up: Semi-Final versus Hull KR

St.Helens go to Sewell Group Craven Park on Saturday, 4th October to take on Hull KR in the Betfred Super League Semi-Final, with kick-off scheduled for 5:30pm.

The Saints go to the home of the League Leaders’ Shield winners, Hull KR, for knockout rugby league action. A spot at Old Trafford and the Grand Final will go to the winning team on Saturday night.

Paul Wellens’ men earned their place in the final four with a dramatic, after-the-hooter away victory over Leeds Rhinos last Saturday. Trailing by two points but awarded an offside penalty as the hooter went meant that the Red V had one play to snatch the win.

The rest, as they say, is history. One of the greatest tries in Super League history involved sixteen passes, numerous tackles evaded, and incredible skill, culminating in Shane Wright writing his name into Saints folklore forever. Coincidentally, it came 25 years to the week since the famous ‘Wide to West’ try.

However, Wellens’ men want their 2025 story to have at least two more chapters. A win over the Robins would return us to the big dance – the Grand Final – for the first time since 2022.

The task that lies in front of our troops is a tough one. Hull KR have enjoyed their best season of the modern era, winning the Challenge Cup and finishing the regular season at the top of the table. Their reward has been a week off from action, and a home Semi-Final tie.

Willie Peters’ Robins will be in a buoyant mood and seeking back-to-back Grand Final appearances, and having beaten the Saints three times in 2025 so far, will be confident too.

St.Helens were last in East Hull five weeks ago, with both sides scoring just a single try each, but converted penalties were the difference in a tight 12-8 game.

Our Saints will be out to get one back over the Robins, continue our campaign, and reach the Grand Final with an away victory by any means.

With a sold out away end at Sewell Group Craven Park, it promises to be an electric atmosphere between St.Helens and Hull KR!
