St.Helens R.F.C. is delighted to confirm the signing of exciting young winger Jacob Douglas on a three-year deal, keeping him with the Saints until the end of the 2028 season!
Jacob Douglas will proudly be sponsored at the Saints by Cultivate Creative.
The 21-year-old, originally from Oldham, was a junior with the Waterhead Warriors community club. A highly athletic and pacey player, he joins the Saints with a desire to establish himself as a consistent Super League player.
Coming through the Wigan Warriors youth system, Douglas stepped up to the First Team ahead of the 2023 season and featured in their Reserves Grand Final victory over St.Helens that same year.
Gaining valuable experience through loan and dual-registration spells, the young outside back has featured for Whitehaven, Oldham, Bradford and Barrow. He made his Super League debut in 2024 against Warrington, scoring his first top-flight try against Hull FC in the same campaign. During the 2025 season, Douglas notched his first Super League hat-trick against Salford.
The young speedster adds further competition to the Red V’s outside backs and will begin his time as a Saint when he links up with the squad at the start of our 2026 pre-season which officially starts next week.
Jacob Douglas told saintsrlfc.com: “I’m very excited to be joining Saints! I know this is a great club with a lot of history, and it’s a big club with high expectations and ambitions.
“When I spoke to the Club, it just felt like the perfect place for me to grow at this point in my career, and hopefully be part of some exciting times ahead. I can’t wait to get started.”
Douglas joins a team that is highly competitive in the outside backs, which is exactly the kind of environment he wants to be in. He is also eager to get to work under Head Coach Paul Rowley.
“There’s some great talent here with the likes of Lewis [Murphy], Owen [Dagnall] and Deon [Cross]. That kind of competition is healthy and will only push me further. We’re all teammates who will bring the best out of one another.
“The way Paul [Rowley] likes to play the game with an attacking brand of rugby, as a winger, that’s the style we love to play. I’ve also heard nothing but good things about Paul from people I trust, so it’s really exciting.”
In a message to our supporters, Douglas said: “I’m a Saint now, and my focus is fully on giving everything for the team and for the fans. Hopefully, together, we can make some great memories.”
