Social care charity, Community Integrated Care, and Saints have formed an exciting new partnership.

It is designed to offer adults with learning disabilities the opportunity to take part in health and wellbeing activities, as well as special match day experiences.

Community Integrated Care is one of Britain’s biggest and most successful social care charities, supporting thousands of people in England and Scotland with learning disabilities, mental health concerns and age related needs.

The club kicked off an eight-week accessible sports programme for people supported by the charity living in St Helens – many of whom are huge Saints fans. At each session, participants take part in relay activities, team games and physical exercises, promoting their health and wellbeing. It is also a fantastic opportunity for the people supported, and their carers, to socialise and make new friends.

Every person taking part in the programme was invited as a guest of honour to the St Helens vs Huddersfield match on Friday April 7, where they met the star players and be welcomed onto the pitch to say hello to the crowd – a truly unforgettable experience!

Community Integrated Care are also proud sponsors of Danny Richardson, who made his First Team debut on February 9. Throughout the season, Danny will be visiting the people supported by the charity, sharing his rugby league experiences with fans.

Samantha Brennan, Community Integrated Care’s North West Regional Director, says: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be working in partnership with The Saints. We are a deeply person-centred organisation, making sure that the people we support people lead the best lives possible, and we have a happier and healthier workforce.

“Rugby League is one of St Helens’ biggest passions, so teaming up with The Saints has enabled us to bring once in a lifetime opportunities to the people we support and our staff. They’ll get to meet the club’s coaches, star players and experience VIP match days – treasured memories they’ll never forget!”

Steve Leonard, Manager of The Saints Community Development Foundation, adds: “We’re delighted to welcome Community Integrated Care to The Saints family. We’re really looking forward to working with such a great charity, offering unique experiences and helping the people they support grow in strength and confidence each week.

“Thanks must go to our Ambassador Eddie Cunningham for bringing Community Integrated Care and our club together. I’d also like to thank staff from both organisations, for making our fitness sessions such a brilliant and fun experience.”
