St Helens Women
05 | Leah Burke
Wing

The former gymnast, hailing from Leigh, had previously never played rugby league before our inaugural campaign and has now gone to establish herself as one of the very best wingers in Women’s Rugby League.
A mainstay in the Saints Women’s team since the inaugural 2018 season, Burke is a classic rugby league winger; holds her width, is comfortable under a high ball, and finds the try line on a consistent basis.
As a former gymnast, Leah made the move to rugby initially with Leeds Beckett University’s union team before linking up with the Saints ahead of our debut season in 2018. Quickly, she showed her ability to play, scoring ten tries in her and our team’s first campaign.
Leah was a key part of our 2021 unbeaten treble-winning side that won the League Leaders’ Shield, the Women’s Challenge Cup, and the Women’s Super League title. She has played her part in a sustained period of success for the Saints Women’s team with four successive Challenge Cup trophies, and the 2024 League Leaders’ Shield.
In 2019, Burke made her international debut for England against Papua New Guinea. To her name so far she has six appearances for England, including selection in the 2022 Rugby League World Cup.
Leah Burke is the Heritage Number 6 for the St Helens Women.
