St Helens Rugby League Club stars Lee Gilmour and Nick Fozzard caused a stir when they made an appearance at this year’s Glassex carrying the huge Challenge Cup that the Saints won in the historic first Challenge Cup final held at the new Wembley last year.
The Saints’ stars made a guest appearance on the Pilkington stand to sign rugby balls for 200 visitors who queued patiently to have their pictures taken with the giant athletes, resplendent of course in kit bearing the Pilkington Activ™ legend as the official sponsors of Saints.
The pair stayed long after the balls ran out and chatted to visitors and fans as word spread throughout the Glassex halls that the two top rugby league players were there to meet and greet.
“The sight of these big lads strolling along the aisle carrying the giant Challenge Cup was quite something,” commented Sales Development Manager Tony Smith. “They were in great form and it brought a bit of fun to what was a very busy show for us.”
“In fact Wednesday was our busiest day all round seeing a wealth of current and prospective customers visit our stand, all interested in hearing about the latest additions, not to mention developments made to our ever-growing product range.
“It was a great way to mix business with pleasure and talk to our visitor base about the many benefits of the Pilkington Activ™ range and our new energy efficient glazing system Pilkington energiKare™, as well as Pilkington Cervoglassä, our conservatory roof and side frame product that combines self-cleaning technology, solar control, safety and thermal insulation. Although still in the middle of processing all of our leads from the show, we feel that it was relatively successful and bringing in the Saints players enhanced this further. It allowed us to really give our visitors something extra to take away with them…and it worked!”
