Gidley is the consummate pro

7th May 2008, 9:00am

Daniel Anderson has taken time out to praise centre Matt Gidley following his all action performance against Wigan at the Millennium Stadium.

The former Newcastle Knight may only have registered a single goal on the scoreboard, but he laid on a superlative try for Gardner and was excellent throughout.

Anderson said: “He has been a real pro for us this year and has been superb every week in each game.

“His style of play is very complementary to the players around him and he is a superb team player.

“He doesn’t really care about the adulation that comes his way; but I think he is unheralded and doesn’t get anywhere near the accolades that Jamie got.

“He is a good pro, great on the training field and let’s be honest, Ade Gardner hasn’t had any problems scoring tries on the outside of either of them has he?"

Gidley has made 47 apearances for Saints, notching up 19 tries and one goal for 78 points.

Tickets are still available for the Carnegie Challenge Cup tie against Warrington on Saturday May 10 (3pm) and can be bought by visiting either Club Shop (at The GPW Recruitment Stadium or Brownlow Arcade), by calling 01744 455 050 or by logging on to www.saintsssuperstore.com
