The St Helens Rugby League Club 10 Point Action Plan
Saints undertake to observe the following articles in the fight to keep racism out of rugby league:
1. We will undertake to prevent spectators who indulge in racist chanting or abuse or offensive behaviours from attending matches at the ground.
2. We will ensure that there is no sale or distribution of racist literatire in or around the ground on match days.
3. We will insist upon a code of conduct for players and officials which prohibit them from making racially abusive remarks against fellow players, officials and supporters at any time.
4. We will maintain communication with other clubs and with the Rugby Football League through a nominated club officer to facilitate the effort to keep racism out of the game.
5. We will maintain a strateggy for dealing with racist chanting and abuse and offensive behaviour and will ensure that all active stewards and, where necessary, the police are aware of their responsibilities and course of action in this regard.
6. We will ensure that all parts of the ground are entirely free from racist graffiti.
7. We will adopt an equal opportunities policy in the areas of employment and service provision.
8. We will undertake to co-operate to the best endeavours with such other groups and agencies that seek to promote awareness of race issues and to combat racism in all levels of society.
9. We will ensure that their development strategies, as carried out by the nominated Academy/Youth Development Management, are positively weighted to encourage the players of rugby league, particularly at junior and youth levels, among such black and ethnic minorities' communities as are included within their catchment areas.
10. We will ensure that all youth, community and general development programmes conducted in accordance with the Rugby Football League's "Framing the Future" policy document reflect the needs of such black and ethnic minorities' communities as are included within their catchment areas.
St Helens RLFC fully support the 'Let's Tackle Racism in Rugby League' campaign and welcomes all players and spectators irrespective of their ethnic or racial origins. Racism has no place in our game and racist comments or chants are totally unacceptable and against ground regulations. Any spectator caught using such language could be arrested or ejected from the ground. Please allow everyone to enjoy the game.
