Recreation Street Allotment Committee kindly donated an area of their allotment to The Veterans of The Foundation so that veterans are able to use the allotment when they please.
Caroline Phillips, a member of the Recreation Street Allotment Committee said: “We are so happy to have the Veterans of The Foundation onboard, we have been in contact with the veterans in the past so when the area of the allotment was available we decided to contact The Veterans of The Foundation so that members are able to come down, whether that be to socialise with other veterans or do a little bit of gardening of their own!
“I believe it helps veterans with their own mental health, Its a very peaceful area with plenty of space that will allow veterans to take their mind off things if they ever have the need to. We look forward to seeing the progress and work done by the veterans in the coming months!”
Steve Leonard, Saints Community Development Foundations Director mentioned: “We are delighted to have an allotment that The Veterans of The Foundation are able to use on a regular basis. This will become an integral part of both recovery for veterans and comradery. Its peaceful surroundings is a brilliant addition for our Veterans of The Foundation, We know some veterans need time and space to be at peace, especially through these current challenging times. We would like to thank Caroline Phillips and the rest of the Recreation Street Allotment Committee for allowing local veterans to use and access this allotment.”
