💪 NOAH: “FOCUS HAS BEEN ON US”

Young prop Noah Stephens knows that the Saints are coming up against one of the best and biggest packs in the competition, and facing a team that are flying high at the top of the table at present.

Stephens believes that Friday’s game could be a good marker of intent from our team to attack and improve and progress up the table in the second half of the season.

💬 COACH PREVIEW

Not being drawn though on the Robins’ Cup Final exploits, Wellens wants his team’s focus to be solely on themselves, and to build consistent performances.

The Saints boss pays credit to Hull KR for their hard work to become one of the most consistent performing sides in recent years in the league competition, and knows that our meeting at their ground will be a tough, attritional battle despite them getting ready for Wembley the following week.

🔷🔻 IN THE AWAY KIT

The Saints will be wearing our Away Kit in East Hull on Friday night.

Just like our Home Kit in 2025, the Saints’ iconic crest has been transformed into a futuristic holographic badge and placed in the centre of our shirts for the first time in 16 years.

Our SAINTS wordmark features in the design of the navy and red kit, on the elasticated sleeves, within the Red Vee on the chest, in the gradient pattern in the lower section of the shirt, and in the side panels of the shorts too.

🔍 A CLOSER LOOK AT KR…

Hull KR are serial contenders now after being revitalised in recent years with consistent finishes in the Play-Offs, a Challenge Cup Final and Grand Final appearance to boot. What they are now hunting though, is that first modern taste of major silverware to rubber stamp this brilliant period they are experiencing, and their next chance will come at Wembley next week.

Willie Peters has the Robins playing an exciting style of rugby, but with a tough and robust physical pack to boot, it is a strong side that has arguably only got stronger with another big recruitment drive for this campaign.

Their headline addition in 2025 has been three-time NRL Premiership winner Jared Waerea-Hargreaves from Sydney Roosters, but they have alsoed in the likes of Michael McIlorum, Tom Davies, Rhyse Martin and Danny Richardson.

It’s a highly competitive side that Peters has in his hands, and that’s before even mentioning the players they already had such as; Dean Hadley, Jez Litten and Robins’ captain Elliot Minchella in the pack. Plus their half-back pairing of Tyrone May and the reigning Man of Steel Mikey Lewis.

Hull KR have only tasted defeat once so far in the 2025 season, at home to the team they lost to in the 2024 Grand Final, the current Super League champions Wigan Warriors. Besides that blip, the Robins have been a strong force, as was proven at the Totally Wicked Stadium back in March when they won 10-20 to make it back-t0-back away wins against St.Helens for the first time in the post-war era of rugby league.

Naturally the East Hull side might have one eye on Wembley just over a week away, looking to avoid any potential injuries or suspensions, but Willie Peters has named a strong 21-man squad. The Robins may look to make minimal changes to keep up their momentum before facing Warrington in London for the Challenge Cup Final.

The Saints are out to get a small slice of revenge after Hull KR’s win earlier in the season, which ended an initial perfect start to the season. However, the Red V are heading into hostile territory and know to expect a bruising battle.

Three to watch

  • Mikey Lewis – the reigning Man of Steel can turn a turn on its head with just one half chance which he can finish – an essential cog in KR’s attack
  • Elliot Minchella – the Robins’ captain is vital to the Robins, and a leader right in the heart of the field with his defensive work
  • Peta Hiku – one of Super League’s best attacking threats, his ability to break the line or fend, and then his clever pass selection can cut open teams

3️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ 🆙 WALMSLEY MILESTONE

It could be a big night for ‘Big Al’ on Friday, because if our star prop takes to the field it would be the 300th time he has played for our club!

Since making his debut coming off the bench against Hull FC in February 2013, Walmsley has established himself as one of the best forwards not just in Betfred Super League, but in all-world rugby league.

An outstanding servant to the Saints over thirteen seasons so far, making 300 appearances for Saints is an incredible milestone that deserves applause.
