A proud product of the Saints Academy, Morgan Knowles is one of the hardest workers in the sport of rugby league 💪

The Barrow Island native came through our youth systems and showed incredible commitment as a youngster by travelling down from Cumbria for Scholarship sessions each week.

Making his senior debut in 2015 but truly broke through in 2016, playing 24 games, to become a First Team regular in the process. ‘Morgz’ can play at loose forward or hooker, as well as in the back row – and that versatility saw him appear 30 times for Saints in 2017 and three times for Wales in the Rugby League World Cup.

In 2018 he continued to show his maturity, becoming one of the mainstays of Justin Holbrook’s side as they challenged on all fronts. 2019 was an even better year for Morgan who was named in the Super League Dream Team after a stellar season in the Red V. His work rate was often credited by Justin Holbrook and ‘Morgz’ also scored some crucial tries including in the Grand Final victory over Salford.

Knowles looked even better in 2020 as his energy and power in the forwards played a crucial part in Saints back -to-back title success. His performances earnt him the Saints Player of the Year Award and he was also named in the Super League Dream Team for the second successive season.

2021 saw Morgan made 17 appearances and was again impressive, named in the Super League Dream team for the third straight season and runner up in the Players’ Player of the Year award. Playing a big role in ending our 13-year wait for the Challenge Cup at Wembley, and securing a three-peat of Super League titles.

In 2022 Morgan continued to lead from the front with his intense performances making him shine as one of the best #13’s in Super League. Knowles earned his fourth Grand Final winners ring as the #FOURmidable Saints made even more history at Old Trafford.

As part of the St.Helens side that made history in 2023 with a seismic World Club Challenge victory over NRL Champion Penrith Panthers, Morgan’s stock has continued to rise.

The hard-working Cumbrian was rewarded for his efforts ahead of the 2024 season by being named one of the Club’s Vice Captains.
