Saints v Salford Red Devils

A Saints short restart almost comes up trumps, but Davies knocks on as he goes to ground.

Salford try a chip and chase, Robertson races Brierley and taps it for a goal-line drop-out.

That’s better Saints, a break from Bell chews up some metres in the middle, we go close with a number of players but just short!

Salford give Saints a penalty, Whitby’s kick takes us 30m out.

Salford as they do go wide again early, taking metres on the edge but Robertson stops Hankinson.

Sneyd then tries a big kick out wide but we get there first.

Ritson takes a great inside run, but we give Salford the ball and then a penalty on top of it.

Robertson takes a Sneyd kick well and steals more metres and gets held down for a penalty.

Salford get a break from the scrum, Robertson stops it but they will get a full set before the break 10m off our line, a knock on off a loose pass.

Murphy goes for an intercept but unfortunately knocks on, Salford scrum by the halfway line.

The visitors get a seven tackle set after a bomb swirls in the wind and is caught in-goal.

They are given a fresh set in our half after judging we touched the ball, but an early Salford error stops them.

Salford don’t get beyond halfway, Watkins and Hill link up for a tricky play but we read it well.

A chance goes begging for the Saints, a pass out to Feldt is no good and bounces off the floor and running out.

Salford on the last play in the middle, cutting through but a pass too much lands to Sailor.

Tristan then takes the Red V up to the 20m line before passing to Bennison.

Feldt then after staying in the field goes for a quick play, but is judged to have knocked on.

The visitors try a short kick-off, Hurrell claims it – no problems. But we cough up the ball with Knowles trying a late short pass to Delaney and we knock on.

Great defence Saints, Sailor puts up a bomb and Brierley catches it but Delaney and company drive him into the in-goal.

Salford give away the first penalty of the game, a flop by Brad Singleton.

Red Devils use the seven tackle set well, marching the Red V back towards our 20m line.

Sailor pokes his nose through and finds space but Shorrocks gets an ankle tap on him quelling the threat. Lomax then attempts a chip to the right corner but it bounces out.

Good defence gents, Salford pinned in their own half.

Another safe set from Saints, ends with Sailor lofting the ball high and a strong chase.

Salford look to go wide early, Cross on the left wing gets a half break but Robertson drags him down well.

First set from the Saints in 2025 is a solid one, we get towards the halfway line before kicking high.
