9️⃣ Clark is one of Super League’s best talents…
Daryl joined St.Helens and became only the third man to have the number #9 shirt at St.Helens in 30 years, following in the footsteps of two of the Saints’ greatest players – Keiron Cunningham and James Roby.
Known for his darting runs from dummy half, and industrious defending, the dynamic hooker is a Steve Prescott Man of Steel recipient and has also won the League Leaders’ Shield and the Challenge Cup before joining the Red V.
Clark began his professional rugby league career with his hometown club Castleford Tigers, making his debut in 2011, and broke through as one of the hottest young talents in the sport and one to keep an eye out on.
2014 was the season Clark went from hot prospect to undoubted star, winning both the Young Player of the Year and the Steve Prescott Man of Steel Award, playing his part in Castleford getting to Wembley. It would be his final season at the Tigers before making a big move to Warrington Wolves.
In his time with the Wire, Clark played in three Challenge Cup Finals and two Grand Finals, lifting the Challenge Cup in 2019 at Wembley where he scored and earned the Lance Todd Trophy as the Man of the Match.
Daryl made his St.Helens debut in February 2024, scoring a trademark hooker’s try with a dummy half run and besting four London Broncos defenders to score in front of the West Stand supporters at the Totally Wicked Stadium. In June 2024, Daz scored his first hat-trick for the Saints, the first by a hooker at the Club since 2003, in a dominant away win at Twickenham Stoop against London Broncos with our fantastic supporters starting to sing for the #9 to the tune of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Dancing In The Dark’.
Closing out his first season as a St.Helens player, Clark was part of the series-winning England side that bested Samoa.
Daz crossed over for his 100th career try in the Saints’ away victory against Wakefield Trinity at the start of March 2025. At the same ground in August, Clark recorded his 400th career match, again crossing over for a try in a win for the Saints. Clark closed out 2025 by being selected to be England’s starting hooker in the First Test of the Ashes Series against Australia at Wembley Stadium and scoring the Three Lions’ sole try from the match.
