St Helens Women beat Warrington 6-60 this afternoon at the Halliwell Jones Stadium live on The Sportsman!

Saints took a seventh minute lead. Eboni Partington received the ball from Luci McColm before racing away down the left wing to score next to the sticks. Amy Taylor converted, 0-6. That lead was soon increased as Shona Hoyle caused havoc with a run towards the Wolves line, Tara Jones stealing one from dummy half in the following play. Taylor added the extras, 0-12.

That lead was soon added to. Chantelle Crowl broke downfield, the following play, try-scorer Jones found Emily Rudge who is span around but able to find an offload to McColm who scored in the corner. Taylor’s conversion bounced out off the post, 0-16. Faye Gaskin then scored a good individual try, as she spotted space ahead of her, kicking into it before again kicking the loose ball and picking it up to score under the sticks. Taylor adding the extras, 0-22.

Try number five for the Red V then arrived. Taylor found Vicky Whitfield who crashed over the top of Warrington’s defence to score. Taylor converting, 0-28. Taylor was involved again for the next Saints score. This time she fed Rudge who went over from close range after running a good line. Taylor converted again, 0-34.

Saints added their seventh and final try of the afternoon just before the break. Gaskin put Rebecca Rotheram through a gap, she then fed the ball back to Gaskin who went over for her second try of the game. Taylor converting, meaning Saints had a comfortable 0-40 lead at the break.

The eighth Saints try came ten minutes into the second half. Whitfield’s big break downfield laid the platform, off the back of it Saints went right and Phoebe Hook stepped inside off the wing for her first Saints try. Taylor missed the kick, 0-44.

Warrington then grabbed a consolation as Fern Davies went over from close range. Michelle Davis adding the two, 6-44 the Wolves trailed.

Saints then moved the ball right, through the hands, as Stott found Hook again on the wing to cross for her second try of the afternoon. Taylor’s kick again missing after bouncing out off the post, 6-48. Another quickly followed. Saints went right again and Rotheram found Stott to score in for the second consecutive game. Taylor added the two, 6-54.

The eleventh and final Saints score came six minutes from time. Jones broke through the middle of a tiring Warrington pack before racing away to stretch over for her second try of the game. Taylor converted, as Saints comfortably beat Warrington 6-60 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, live on The Sportsman!
